The Bucs have promoted T Dennis Roland from the practice squad to fill the roster spot vacated when Lou Petitgout was put on IR. It is expected that Roland will back up Donald Penn who will start in place of Petitgout.

Penn and Roland were both shown practicing against Gaines Adams in a recent Buccaneers Insiders film clip:

In this clip Roland controlled and dominated Adams who beat Penn when Penn tried to block him. It raises a question about how playing time should be divided between Penn and Roland.

I remember Roland looking very slow during the preseason. On a toss right he took forever to get outside and ended up being responsible for the RB's (Darby I think) fumble.

I'm a fan of Penn's and would much rather have him out there than Roland. It's not even close IMO. It says something when Penn is starting over Davis. There wasn't even a competition for the spot. I'm very eager to see what he does the rest of the way.
