McCoy Released

Recommended Posts

Figures. Couldn't get any kind of compensation. Didn't see it coming last year and got a 7th in 2022 or an expired pack of hot dogs for him. It's not like they needed him to win those 5 games last year. But no big deal, it's just another straw up the camel's ass.

And nobody better be rootin for him in the playoffs.

Now we wait on word that JPP's neck injury requires amputation.

Rumor? Link?

That would be monumentally stupid.

The Bucs have several options, including to move quickly and sign Rams free agent defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh. Ironically, Suh was selected one spot ahead of McCoy at No. 2 overall in 2010. He had 4 1/2 sacks for the Rams last season.

If the #Bucs sign Ndamukong Suh, expect terms to look something like one season at $10 million. Tampa Bay would save about $3 million by basically swapping Gerald McCoy for Suh.

Methinks now Lorcht, the NFL’s 3rd worst GM ((after Gettleman and Gazerbeam) will have Arians fist really far up his ass. You sit and wait.Sign the rooks. Wait for training camp, preseason, see what vets end up getting released. The Bucs are disadvantaged because they are perennial basement dwellers. Their selling points are BA and Todd’s Bowel.  And a passing offense that racks up yards but not points. Anyway, now is not the time to sign Suh for huge money. Now as others have said, if he could be had for $5 million, sure. But only a bona fide playoff contender could get him for that, not the Sucs.

Wait.

That's 4-5 million too much

This is the thing right here. If he could be had for a fiver it would be worth the risk.

Otherwise, just come back to Gerald now and offer him ten.

Wouldn't they have tried to make a deal with him already? He'd probably go to one of the the other division teams or a Super Bowel contender for less.

Gerald wasn't going to take a pay cut here. At least until he sees what he has to give as a discount for the next team of his choosing. Obviously Suh is still available because he's asking for too much money.  If no one comes within range of whatever the Bucs number was that GMC could have stayed for...........I wouldn;t count on it but wouldn't be the most shocking thing I've seen either.

This is one of those things where it was the right move but in terms of how the Bucs got there, they once again fucked it up. They probably knew in January that they were going to part ways with McCoy. Let's get through the first wave of free agency and then the draft before releasing him. Makes perfect sense.

As for McCoy, good dude. Will be missed in the community. Just wasn't worth the salary and never produced enough, or when the Bucs really needed him to. With that said, would've been nice to have a fucking replacement readily available.

May, may may! All speculatum and the Bucs are mum. But how awesome would it be to finally see how much better Suh is than McCoy. Or rather how the blithering debate bubbles over again. :groucho

It would be so Succaneer.  Lichtbag would sign Suh who would go all 2011 Fat Albert Haynesworth on the Sucs. Book it wanks.
