LeGarrette Blount

Recommended Posts

Let's take a moment and reflect on yet another ex-buc's success since being traded away for pennies. He is now going to his 3rd super bowl competing against his former super bowl winning team from the prior year and is pegged as being this years superbowl MVP.

The Bucs lack the leadership and talent to control 'problem' players.  We get them on the cheap because of their on field or off field issues.  Not the one that got away, but the one we shouldn't have touched until we had good leaders in place who are talented enough that these guys would respect them.

Blount's a two down back. Not every team wants or needs that. Philadelphia's basically used him as a closer to grind out yards at the end of games. He's limited with his skill set. Even so, with the way his tenure in Tampa ended, you'd think he would be out of the league. Instead, he's playing in another Super Bowl and has been a contributor to his team.

Blount has rushed for over 1,000 yards only twice in his career..Once for the Bucs and once for the Pats.

He rushed for 766 yards this year for the Eagles.

Peyton Barber rushes for 670 yards and only started 5 games.

I don't hear anyone clamoring for the Bucs to bring Blount back, the OP was simply observing that recent ex-Bucs (Blount, Talib, Bennett) have a tendency to win Super Bowls, while current Bucs do not.

Spot on. Blount and Talib both went to an on-the-job behavior modification clinic, learned how to be human beings and better football players. Both were immature, both grew up and are now good team players.

I wish there was a highlight reel with all of the 3rd-and-shorts he couldn't convert.

He was excellent in the open field, that is clear from the higihlight real and recollection. The above point is why he was less effective as a Buccaneer. He seems to have learned how to push a pile rather than dance in front of it as he's matured, but as a Buc he was an awful short yardage back.

Yeah, it has been nearly 2 years since Talib shot himself in the leg and lied to police claiming someone shot him, and he hasn't been in a fight on the field for over 2 months.

And the environment of Tampa seems to be too tempting for these knuckleheads, for whatever reason. Maybe the Glazertards should buy the Mons and convert it to a rehab clinic. Or a private whoehouse. Something respectful.

The DISCONNECT is other teams have a winning culture AND players/coaches/FO people are held accountable for performance.

Players who go to winning programs are afraid to screwup so they showup and make plays when needed.

In BucLand there is no accountability and therefore I think there is a "meh" attitude that permates and destroys moral.

just me 2 cents
