BSPN - Koetter on "Hot Seat"

Recommended Posts

Will be interesting to see what happens with Dirk. Better than 50/50 chance that the Bucs go 4-12. Considering the expectations coming into the season, I'm not sure the Glazers will keep him around. They have a quick trigger finger and this season is similar to other collapses, which cost coaches their jobs.

My preference would be to keep him, but have him give up the play calling and find a new defensive coordinator and OL coach.

Mistake to fire Dirk.

While I get the logic, all roads point to his being gone in my oh so humble opinion.

Take a winning team, which they were last year, lose no one of any consequence, add serious talent and proceed to circle the drain. I don't think he survives it myself. The bulk of the coaching staff goes with him, please let Warthog be among them.

And to think, many, myself included were wishing and hoping Mike Smith wouldn't be offered the Jacksonville Head Coaching job.

And Kotter coached them to that winning record.

Funny how no one bitched about the play calling last year when people blocked, WRs made plays, the QB made throws and the RBs hit holes.

But in typical horrible Glaztard fashion, they will probably watch ESPN and say “hey we need to fire the HC”.

Oh and I heard that Mike Smith might be on the Giants short list for HC.

It’s kind of like a conundrum, where you’re starving and have to make a decision between eating the rancid fecal smelling fish or the slime necrotic smelling green chicken.

Smitty got his money and must have retired on the job.

This team needs a consultant to objectively evaluate the film, as from comments that have been printed, the current coaching staff must be missing the critical systemic flaws.

And even if it is this guy

Who would the defensive coordinator be? I mean, Monte Kiffin is like 97 years old and probably wouldn't know the difference between a defensive end and a rear end.

Maybe Marvin Lewis gets fired by the Bengals and he would be available as DC.

........if your going to get rid of Koetter ya got to get rid of the GM....well and the whole coaching staff...and then your still left with the same Offensive line ...which makes the running back the quarter back and the wide receivers and tight ends look kind of shitty....Hey I get an opinion right?

Ok. Ok. Let's stop with the bringing back Gruden posts. It's just fuckin makin me sick to remember how it was.

You know how it is. It's like your hot and horny wife decided she's a full time lesbian and packed up and left. And years later you've had a few short time skanks that spent your money and were as receptive as your 25 year old mule. And the mule smelled better. Then you keep seeing your hot ex-wife on Porn Hub for fucks sake.

Oh and no, before anyone says it, I wouldn't want to be screwin Gruden if he was a lesbian or even if he had those long ears and great smile.

Damn those Glazertards.

Firing Koetter in year 2 would be the same mistake they've made over and over since Gruden was shown the door.

We've had four coaches since then and Fucking Raheem Morris would be the only one to have gotten three seasons to try and fix things...  I do feel like the Glazers WANT to win, but I don't think they have any fucking clue what they're doing.

The good organizations find top people and let them do their thing.  We hire 38 year old DB's coaches... college coaches with average resumes, and OC's who might know what they're doing.  And when they actually hired a coach with NFL experience, it was a guy who was completely average in Chicago and led the Bucs to a 2-14 season.

I know great coaches don't grow on trees, but the only thing they HAVEN'T tried yet is being patient.  I don't know if it's the chicken or the egg, but good teams don't blow things up every other year.  They find someone good and stick with them and before you know it players know what they're doing.

I would hope Koetter gets another year because as stated before the defense has not help and let not forget the kicking game lost some games as well. I believe you bring in a new DC with talent on the dline that he can work with. The problem is people take a look at what Rams have been able to do with there coach and always think maybe they can find the next one. Another problem is two drafts now the GM has missed on picks CB/K/RB.

Who's to say we've found the solution?

Looking at this season it's pretty clear we haven't.  I'm just saying I don't think constantly starting over is the solution.  Maybe a new defense is.  Maybe more investment in the O and D lines is.  Maybe what this team really needs is consistency and will put it all together in year 3 or 4...

Any way I try to slice it, this team seems cursed.  There have been tons of things that have caused distractions and losses that are legitimately out of the staff's control that seem to happen constantly... things like MRSA, injuries, trips to London, being selected for Hard Knocks, hurricanes taking your bye week and depriving you of a potential 2-0 start, mental kickers who can't hit 30 yarders... then there are things that they should be doing better.

And here we are, looking at another top 10 draft pick... I hope they spend every single damn pick on linemen.

Agreed on Dirk.

But, I wouldn't be surprised if the Glazers decide to move on. They lack patience and foresight.

Yup. And they'll fire Koetter too late in the season to get anyone decent, then someone like Jon Gruden will string them along and ultimately say,Ah, nah never mind. And it'll be Raheem or someone equivalent forever.

Smitty is on the short list.  London bookies (yes, they'll bet on anything) have installed him as the favorite.

There's a strong and persistent rumor among NFL people that Smitty was the Giants choice last year until Eli Manning effectively vetoed it by insisting the team needed the consistency only McAdoo could provide.  Didn't work out well for Eli.

Some of us who are unsure about if it would be good if Gruden came back, should pause for a minute.

The Bucs will likely be 4-12 this season.

This record will more than likely result in Koetter being offered an unlimited fast pass on the Tilt-a-Whirl rides at the local carnival.

The 1997 Raiders went 4-12.

Then Gruden took over, going 8-8 in 98 and 99, 12-4 in 00 and 10-6 in 2001 with the Tuck Rule boning him out of a Super Bowl.

So he has in fact taken a woeful bag of losers and won with them.

Consider it, capons.

That part of it never comes into it, Tundra. It's all about Gruden winning with Dungy's team.

Regardless, I'll agree with fanofdabucs that Gruden's about as likely to get back into coaching as I am to start shitting legal tender.

We're back on the coaching carousel, and I think the Glazer talent at hiring head coaches ended with Malcolm. While I wish we were getting the next Sean McVay, we're far more likely getting another Raheem Morris.
