Playoffs bitches!

Recommended Posts

If you can't beat the BlackHawks these playoffs, you may never. Duncan Keith out for game 1, Crawford is still getting his legs under him again after being out injured, their defense is not as good this year, plus you have home ice. But this should be a very physical and exhausting series, with the winner limping into the 2nd round. The Lightning have been so inconsistent all year, I have no idea which team will show up. But Detroit is relatively healthy while we are missing Stamkos, Stralman and maybe Tyler Johnson. If they steal the 1st or 2nd game, and with them using Datsyuk's possible farewell tour before going back to Russia as a rallying cry, it could be a short series.

Nikita Kucherov is the MVP of the series so far, but Jonathan Drouin will be a star in this league. Whether the damage done earlier this season can be worked out or will he still request a trade before the draft remains to be seen. But he has clearly stepped into the void of no Steven Stamkos and provided a much needed jolt of offense to the lineup that it desperately needed. If we end up losing Stamkos and Drouin in the offseason, that would take years to recover from.

NEW YORK -- Chicago Blackhawks forward Andrew Shaw has been suspended for one game for making a homophobic slur during Game 4 of the team's first-round Stanley Cup Playoff series with the St. Louis Blues in Chicago on Tuesday, April 19, the National Hockey League announced today. Shaw has also been fined $5,000 for directing an inappropriate gesture at the on-ice officials during the same game. Shaw will also be required to undergo sensitivity training.

Both incidents took place at 17:56 of the third period. Shaw will miss Game 5 of the series on Thursday, April 21, in St. Louis.

"While Mr. Shaw was apologetic and remorseful for both the offensive comments and the inappropriate gesture directed at the on-ice officials, he must be held accountable for his actions," said NHL Senior Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations Colin Campbell. "The emotion of the moment cannot and will not be a mitigating factor for the conduct that is expected of an NHL player."

The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
