You might get it just before Windows 8 comes out, heh?

See above.

Performance should go up. The memory handling in 7 is better than Vista -- especially in the ability to scale. Windows 7 also improved the graphics by adding 2D hardware acceleration back in - a feature removed in Vista when they changed the graphics sub-system.

Dude. I think it is funny that anyone would think OS X is better. OS X was better than Windows XP by a small margin, but Vista and 7 go beyond OS X IMHO.

We tested 7 on a 1GiB netbook and it worked fairly well; far better than Vista would have. So I think 7 is a good OS for people looking to stay in the MS sphere.

Well, those were also removed from later Vista, as part of the settlement with the EU.

Users now have to accept them.

As to the OS/X bit.. look, I use both. OS/X has some incredibly glaring problems it doesn't seem to have any interest in fixing (like non-existent Bluray support.. which Apple seemingly has no interest in doing anything about).

OS/X does some things I do like. But the reality is, the vast majority of applications I rely on every day don't even exist on the Mac. That makes it hard to consider it a real alternative.

I use Windows XP, Windows 7, Window 2003R2, Windows 2008, Windows 2008R2, OS X 10.5, OS X 10.6, Ubuntu 9.10 and Fedora 12.

I have yet to find a perfect OS... each offers their own set of demons to deal with. OS X, at least for me, is the least of the bunch... though it is far better than OS 9.
