  2. SBL, August 23, 2013 - (Tallahassee) - Coach Muschamp had plenty of reasons to feel a bit bitter on Friday. Florida, who’s season may rely heavily on the success of their run game found themselves at a real loss when Matt Jones, Tailback was confirmed inactive for their week 1 matchup with Toledo. More troubling is that Jones is set to be “questionable from there on out” per the Orlando Sentinel. Florida’s QB Jeff Driskel was expected to rely heavily on the run game for this campaign, and while the loss of Jones presents issues, it was Muschamp’s other injury announcement that may cause the Florida offense the most difficulty. Jon Halapio, (Sr) will reshuffle Florida’s offensive line in a team that needs significant continuity to perform with backups in the run game. Halapio, suffering a torn pectoral muscle is expected to miss the first two games this season, and will be evaluated after the Miami game for progress. While neither of these injuries is likely to have an impact against small university Toledo in week 1, in week 2 University of Miami may feel as though this is a chance to catch a team unaware. Florida has not announced a replacement starter for Matt Jones, though Junior Mack Brown. Brown, a highly touted recruit, is still an unknown quantity, having only forty career carries for Florida. Muschamp has not announced any decisions in regards to red shirt freshman running backs Kelvin Taylor and Adam Lane. Click here to view the article
